Risk to Life

By definition, UAS present no risk to onboard pilots or aircrew and a catastrophic failure condition does not necessarily mean that there is a direct risk to life.    It is important to undertand, not only the phyiscal parameters of the UAS and its failure modes, but also the environment in which it is seeking certification to operate.

For some types of UAS, even flight over populated areas may present risks to life that are deemed Tolerable and As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP).

Aerios Ltd has developed various methods and techniques to determine the risk to life to ground crew and members of the public.
